    Hi, I'm Walt Roycraft, Wedding Photographer in Lexington, Nicholasville and beyond.
    There are many hard things about running a business, and writing about yourself is probably the hardest. I see what others have done and some seem so "cheesy" and then others are so incredibly thoughtful and well written.
    I am not cheesy(in public) and not talented enough to write something profound. So, here we go!

    Lets start with the obvious, I have white hair (= old?) Well maybe. I like to think that I have much experience. Your parents will be more relaxed knowing some "kid" is not in charge of documenting memories for a lifetime. Flower girls and ring bearers think of me as "Grandpa"

    I've been married to my wonderful wife Mary for 35 years. We have raised 2 wonderful girls who are shinning stars. No grand kids yet, but can't wait! We love the beach. Cape Hatteras is our beach of choice, but any beach will do.

    I went to Woodstock, nuf said.
    I don't have music on my site because I could not afford the rights to Carla Bruni, Michael Buble, or any other talented contemporary musician singing about love ... and you're probably already listening to what you like anyway.

  • God has influenced me. His Word, Spirit, His forgiveness.
    I believe that when you are influenced you are changed. From the inside out, and it manifests in all you do.

    I like deep, not shallow. I'd rather have 5 good friends than 20 acquaintances.
    I like organic gardening and native landscaping rather than contrived flower beds.

    Our home has reclaimed lumber from barns built 100 years ago.

    I like things done right, even tho it's harder and takes longer . When I shoot photos, I think in terms of your grand kids. I want them to be able to see how beautiful you were at your wedding. I want your album to be a treasure for generations.

    I like to work hard. When you see me at a wedding I am not sitting around, I would be bored. I am always looking for good light, or creating it if it's not there. I'm looking for the decisive moment, the bursts of laughter, the tender moment with a parent or sibling. The embrace. The guest having a great time.

Dear Walt and Mary, I cannot tell you enough how much we appreciate your beautiful work on our wedding and engagement photos.  These are what we will get to keep forever after the big day.  You did such an extraordinary job, each picture is breathtaking and we can’t stop looking at them!  Your time and talents will always be remembered with sincere gratitude.  We are so fortunate to have found you to take care of one of the most important elements of the wedding.

Model shoot in San Antonio

I recently attended a wedding photography convention in San Antonio, Texas. There are so many conventions that are attended by thousands of photographers making the class size impersonal.  The DWF convention is very intimate with only 125 attending, yet we had some of the worlds best photographers teaching.  I learned post processing techniques by Dina Douglas who is known for her vibrant color and beautiful skin tones. Jerry Ghionis, from Australlia, did a live posing demonstration.  Marcus Bell, also an Aussie, had us in tears, emphasising not only the importance of beautiful photos, but the emotional connection between the Bride, Family and us as photographers.  We wrapped the week up with a couple model shoots that I wanted to share with you.  I hope you enjoy them!
